Dollu Kunitha is also a dance form. It is a
major drum dance of Karnataka. It accompanied by singing and provides
spectacular variety of skills. It is mainly a group dance form. The major instrument is Dollu. And this
instrument is hung by means of a thick thread tied to hooks in the ceiling. And
there should be an instantaneous beating of the Dollu. Dollu Kunitha basically very difficult dance form but the professional dancers make it as easy by their hard practice. Dollu Kunitha is old tradition of Karnataka.
Dollu Kunitha is popular not only in the present traditional period, but also in the very oold times. It is also called as Kurubana Kunitha. Dollu Kunitha is belonging to a tribe family, called as Halu Kuruba. Dollu Kunitha is a dance form was reached by Lord Shiva to the Halu Kuruba family. Then they continued that dance to their future generation. The future generation was teach the dance to the every interested persons or group, one who wanted to learn. this Halu Kuruba tribe people are now also living in the forest area of Shivamogga, Karnataka.
